Redmi Note 11 Review

Redmi Note 11 – the crown has not fallen, that is, the well-deserved king of profitability

The Redmi Note 11 series has officially hit the Polish store shelves , which means that the next generation of very important smartphones is already in our country and it is worth taking an interest in it.

Xiaomi has been demonstrating for years that it is at the forefront in this segment and scrupulously confirms it year after year. At the outset, it seems that the title proposal also has a good chance of success, but the market is constantly developing and is not letting go of any side.

In this way, expectations of Redmi Note 11 are high, and this review will verify them all. I cordially invite you to the material.

Set, price and technical specifications of Redmi Note 11

In terms of the contents of the box, Redmi decided to stay with its own. Among the booklets and the key for the SIM and MicroSD tray, you will find a modular charger (33 W power adapter, USB-C – USB-A cable) and a case. Everything has its place and generally does not differ from what we consider standard in this class.

The rubber case is definitely very hard to put on, which means that it adheres tightly to the device and does not allow any dirt to get into it. These also do not have the possibility of entering the USB-C socket , which is covered with a special plug. As far as the basic aspects are concerned, the back and edges of the device are certainly well protected.

The hump with cameras is a large, exposed surface, which is minimally covered by the protruding edges of the case. The same is with the front, where the protector minimally overlaps the display frames.

Redmi Note 11 with a high price loses its relevance, that is, the key factor has been met

Of course, Redmi Note 11 has to be a cheap smartphone to talk about any success at all. Fortunately, it is, because the equipment priced starts at Rs. 14,090.

You can also count on special promotions to start, i.e. the price of the cheapest model drops to Rs. 14,090, and the middle variant is sold in a set with the Xiaomi Mi Band Pro.

The key novelty in relation to Redmi Note 10 is a display with an increased refresh rate. There is also a new computing chip and a main camera. Most importantly, nothing was left, so while maintaining a similar price level nowadays, we are talking about the actual successor.

Construction and build quality

Redmi continues the design that we got to know as part of the Redmi Note 10 series. Similarly, the overall design of the devices has not changed drastically, so we should not complain about the quality of workmanship and fit.

The offer includes both colorful and less conspicuous color versions. I got the most universal, gray version of Redmi Note 11, which , thanks to its matte finish, does not collect clear dirt. The flat edges take some getting used to at first, but on the whole, the smartphone fits well in the hand and does not have any problems with the nature of the convenience of use.

The front is distinguished by a factory-applied foil on the screen, which could protect the edges more, but you can turn a blind eye to it. It is important that it is and is an additional protection against falls and scratches.

There is a central cutout in the display – relatively small – for your average selfie camera. There is an acceptable frame size around the screen, although of course the bottom one stands out significantly. The treble has been reserved for the loudspeaker that is part of the stereo system.

The matte back looks quite sad, but at the same time elegant in its own way. The most important thing is that if we notice any fingerprints, we can quickly get rid of them with a single wipe.

The only distinguishing element on this surface is a set of four cameras and a diode illuminating photos and videos. Luckily, the hump does not stick out excessively and does not interfere with everyday use. Nevertheless, its overall area is quite large in relation to the actual usefulness of the included elements.

There is a lot going on at the edges

A characteristic feature of Redmi Note 11 is the presence of a large number of additions on the edges, because on each one we will find:

  • Top – headphone jack 3.5 mm, speaker grill, infrared port, additional microphone
  • Bottom – speaker, USB-C connector, main microphone
  • Left side – tray for SIM and MicroSD cards
  • Right side – physical keys, including the lock button combined with the fingerprint reader

This is definitely one of the most complete smartphones that we will meet today in the mobile market. In general terms. After all, the ability to connect wired headphones is dying out for good.

The more infrared is practically unheard of in today’s competition, not to mention a full-size tray for all cards instead of a hybrid one. These are all theoretically trifles, but worth emphasizing.

To this Redmi adds a good fingerprint reader, as well as successful stereo speakers. After all, at this price, the presence of two multimedia speakers is something unusual. They may not be the most resonant and at maximum intensity they noticeably lose their quality, but in general they do not sting the ears.

Display and image quality

The screens of today’s super-profitable mediums have evidently become the next point to fight. Trends from higher price shelves began to appear in cheaper models, and this is how Redmi Note 11 offers an OLED panel with an increased refresh rate. Starting with the quality itself, a positive change can be seen.

Redmi Note 11 review

It is true that the predecessor also offered this type of technology, but this time you get the impression that the calibration was better done. Therefore, the observed color palette does not differ significantly from the expected values.

The brightness is also at a very high level, because in everyday conditions it easily exceeds 600 nits, and in the sun it can even reach 900 nits. On the other hand, the lower brightness level also stands out, so the entire cross-section is at an above-average level.

The increased refresh rate is noticeable in everyday use, but not necessarily in all applications. In many games, the software blocks the screen’s capabilities down to 60 Hz. It is similar when watching movies, but in this case it is an advantage.

Battery – working and charging time

In terms of the battery, Redmi decided not to change anything. That is why there is still a 5000 mAh cell on board, which we will charge with a power of 33 W.

On paper it is average – after all, the company has not changed anything, but it turns out that you can feel the changes in practice. First of all, they result from the use of a noticeably more energy-efficient computing system.

The actual measurements show that 2 working days are not the slightest problem for this smartphone. Even if you try, 3 days are within reach, but of course with some compromises. In the case of work with the display turned on, we talk about:

  • 12 hours in a quiet scenario – Chrome, social media, YouTube, Google Sheets and Docs
  • 5 hours of full speed operation.

Due to the low lithography of the system, we should not worry about the high temperatures felt on the housing. This way you can see that the battery has remained the same, but now offers a bit more. Also in the context of charging, Redmi Note 11 allows you to use full power for a longer period, so the process is shorter by about 15 minutes.

One hour is enough to fully charge today’s hero , while half of that time means regeneration to less than 70%.

Cameras – the quality of photos and videos

Redmi Note 11 offers quite a lot of photo modes, although some were created a bit by force. Nevertheless, the application itself is legible, relatively simple and allows you to largely adapt it to your expectations.

In fact, in this respect, it is one of the best programs currently offered on Android smartphones. Everything is readable and available at your fingertips.

Redmi Note 11 review

Redmi Note 11 records videos in the following resolutions:

  • 720p at 30 fps.
  • 1080p at 30 fps.
  • Slow-motion: 720p at 480 fps.

The change of the computing system meant that we lost the possibility of recording in 4K and in FullHD in 60 fps . On the other hand, we still can’t use the wide-angle lens once we’ve started shooting the movie.

No revelation, which is enough for this class

I have already touched upon the absolution of the available matrices when discussing the island of cameras, but it must be repeated. Such a large surface houses two useless dies , which we simply won’t use in the world.

Therefore, there is no point in looking at the presence of cameras from 2 MPx. Fortunately, the third sensor (8 MPx) with a wide-angle lens is correct. Of course, in the context of this price class, because it does not see much at night, it creates a lot of noise and distortions.

Redmi Note 11 review

In addition, the appropriate mode for working in difficult lighting conditions is reluctant to work with it. However, during the day, the offered level of detail and color reproduction are acceptable because they do not differ significantly from the main matrix. Then the relatively narrow tonal range remains the main problem.

The tonal range is also not great in the case of the main matrix. However, the quality of colors and the level of details can be described with a clear conscience as acceptable in this price class.

We cannot expect perfectly sharp contours and perfect sharpness. The latter plays tricks at times, but fortunately you can catch it quickly. The fact that we are dealing with a cheap smartphone is clearly visible at night, where even the main matrix has clear problems to see anything in worse lighting conditions.

Moving on to movies, the image quality is in line with your previous photo experience. The game also comes with an acceptable focusing rate and … no image stabilization . In this respect, you have to limit yourself to the balance of your own hands, otherwise the picture will evidently shake.

Software and performance

Redmi Note 11 debuts with MIUI 13, the company’s latest add-on. The problem is that it covers the old Android 11 , which does not seem to be so interesting. Nevertheless, the system works smoothly, and this is important, although there are several issues that can be faulted. First of all, to the intrusiveness of advertisements visible at almost every step. If it was possible somewhere, promotional material will surely appear.

Redmi Note 11 review

In the same way, we receive a lot of applications, which are evidently the result of the manufacturer’s agreements with individual companies. Fortunately, we can remove them. Overall, MIUI performs well in terms of add-ons and quite well in terms of ergonomics. Redmi Note 11 offers a lot of interesting solutions that in this class would not have to be so obvious.

The Snapdragon 680 is a kind of sensation, because on paper it is quite an interesting layout for devices like Redmi Note 11. Very low lithography is impressive, but Qualcomm opted for quite low-class cores.

In this way, the effect is such that the energy consumption is low, but the performance compared to the Snapdragon 678 (Redmi Note 10) is at a similar, sometimes worse level. Fortunately, this is not how you feel when using a smartphone, because the reviewed equipment works quickly and efficiently.

Redmi Note 11 review – summary

Putting it all together, Redmi Note 11 clearly promises to be a smartphone that may turn out to be the king in its class. It has all the features that lead to it, i.e. the right price, or rather the ratio of possibilities to this amount , an interesting display, a strong battery and adequate performance.

Of course, some aspects still require improvement, such as a set of cameras with a reduction in the number of unnecessary matrices or software that requires getting used to a few solutions to start. Just remember that this is not a flagship, but a well-priced average.
