Realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition review in three sentences

Realme GT NEO 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition is an ordinary-unusual smartphone, which in addition to the already known realme strengths, such as good battery, performance and a well-thought-out overlay, offers something else. Accents related to the well-known anime in the form of changed colors or additional elements in the system will be a real treat for every Dragon Ball fan. It is also the only version of the GT NEO 3T with more memory, which is its main advantage in the absence of a microSD slot.

For a long time, Realme has been regaining us with newer phone models that seem to be put together from their predecessors. We had already reviewed realme GT 2 Pro for you , and now I tested realme GT NEO 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition and even if you didn’t run after school to watch Dragon Ball on RTL7, it’s worth taking a look at it and see if this version has to offer something more. Feel free to review.

Benefits

  • long-lasting battery and fast charging
  • very bright AMOLED display
  • good daytime photos
  • good performance

Disadvantages

  • no memory expansion possible
  • an opaque case that covers the uniqueness of the case
  • too few elements in the system referring to Dragon Ball

Realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition kit, technical specifications and price

Realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition specifications

The packaging in which you will get the phone looks promising. It is very big compared to the competition and the whole thing refers to the anime beloved by many. Its content is not that impressive anymore, but apart from the standard documentation, there is also a place for a quick charger, a USB-C – USB-A cable and a dark gray case.

The received cover, unfortunately, practically completely covers the remarkable phone casing and deprives it of the most characteristic Dragonball elements.

In my opinion, this is a very bizarre situation, because a transparent case is included in the edition without Dragon Ball in the name. This edition also includes stickers with anime characters, a card with Shen Long and a key for removing the SIM tray, specially styled to resemble a dragon ball.

Realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition - compare the parameters of this phone with its standard edition

If you compare the parameters of this phone with its standard edition, you will find that it is almost the same. This, however, is the biggest difference, because the fan version is equipped with twice the memory – 256GB, which in the absence of a memory card slot may outweigh Dragon Ball. The difference in price is currently €70 and you will get the standard version for €430 and the Dragon Ball Z edition for €500. Is it worth paying that much extra? It depends if you care.

Construction and build quality of realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition

Construction and build quality of realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition

First of all, no one will pass by realme GT NEO 3T Dragon Ball Z edition indifferently. Despite the fact that the housing is made of plastic, its nice finish and orange and blue style give the impression of belonging to a much more expensive phone. The back has additional shiny elements that add a visual three-dimensional effect. In the upper right corner there is a place for the Goku symbol and the upper left corner is a classically very protruding island of cameras, through which the phone sways a lot when it is lying on the table.

The blue phone frames are decorated with lock buttons (right) and volume keys (left). The first one is orange, has a noticeable texture and is placed at a good height, which improves the comfort of use. On the lower edge you will find a speaker, microphone, SIM tray and a USB-C connector. Only the headphone jack is missing. On the top edge there is an additional microphone and a loudspeaker, which is supposed to play the sound in stereo.

The front of the phone is covered with Gorilla Glass 5, which is immediately covered with a protective foil. The whole thing fits well, but it is a pity that the manufacturer does not provide any waterproof and dustproof properties.

Display and image quality

Display and image quality

The display is a 6.62-inch AMOLED screen with a fullHD + chapter. This one can boast HDR support, 120Hz screen refreshing and a sensational brightness of up to 1300 nits. In the settings menu, we can choose 60 or 120 hertz screen refresh, but also choose automatic refresh adjustment. The only drawback is the lack of a choice of refreshing in games, and here it is always the maximum of 60Hz.

The bezels around the display are small and the bottom edge is only slightly wider. A functioning fingerprint reader is hidden under the display. I would prefer this one to be placed higher, which would improve the comfort of use, but that might just be my preference.

Battery – working and charging time

Battery - working and charging time

Here realme should receive nothing but praise. In GT NEO 3T, you will not enjoy the loading animation specially designed for the Dragonball edition. 80-watt super Dart charging will charge the 5000mAh battery up to 50% in 8 minutes, up to 80% in 23 minutes, and we will see a hundred in 35 minutes.

A fully charged battery, with my use, was enough for about 30 hours of work, including less than 6 hours of on the screen. With economical use, the phone will be charged once every two days. It is true that I have already used phones that with such a capacity allowed for longer battery life, but unlike them, it did not come at the expense of the phone’s performance and so realme never beat the applications I needed in the background.

Cameras – the quality of photos and videos

Cameras - the quality of photos and videos

The cameras can be described as more than satisfactory. On the back we have three main lenses, 64 megapixel, ultra wide angle 8 megapixel and 2 megapixel macro. The latter is, as we are used to by various producers, very disappointing. You will get better results by zooming in on the main snapper. The main lens allows you to capture nice photos with good sharpness and a degree of detail. The frames are expressive, but not overly colored. In the case of indoor shots, the focus is a bit lost, but the photos are still very good.

If you like taking photos at night, you shouldn’t be disappointed. After dark, we can easily get a good photo, and the slightly faded colors are improved by the night mode. In this mode, we will visibly improve the photos from the wide-angle camera. With this lens, daytime photos are good, but not sensational. In the case of ultra-wide-angle photos, the tendency for a cooler white balance is also noticeable than with the main camera.

There is a place for a selfie camera on the front of the phone. Although the camera has as much as 16 megapixels, it does not give outstanding results. Even on a sunny day, the photos are faded and with a slight noise, but overall they can be described as correct.

Video recordings

Video using realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition will be recorded in:

  • 1080p 30fps
  • 1080p 60fps
  • 4k 30fps
  • 4k 60fps

It is worth noting that when you turn on recording with the main lens, you will not switch to the wide-angle lens. The other way, from the wide-angle to the main lens, you won’t switch either. Play: realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition 1080p 30fps

Software and performance

On board the phone we have Android 12 with the realme UI 3.0 overlay, which has already appeared on other phones, and fans of its previous versions should be familiar with it, because it clearly draws from them. Everything about this overlay fits snugly and allows for many personalization options. However, all of this doesn’t come at the expense of impaired Android features, which is great fun.

The only drawback that irritates me a bit is that adjusting the colors to the wallpaper works a bit weird and so Google applications always adjust to the wallpaper, not to the settings from the “colors” menu, while realme applications take into account the “colors” settings . In the end, there is a large mishmash of colors between applications. However, I think that this cosmetic flaw will only bother sensitive aesthetes.

If you bought realme GT NEO 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition just by the name of your favorite anime in the name, you will find some references in the system. These include additional wallpapers with a Dragon Ball theme, a pack with special icons, and an interesting animation while charging the phone, which, however, does not seem to refer to an animated film. Some other easy-to-introduce elements are missing here, for example sounds.

The phone works under the control of Snapdragon 870 5G supported by 8 gigabytes of RAM and, as I wrote before, the whole thing in everyday use has never let me down. Keeping applications open in memory for a long time, high responsiveness and speed definitely speak in favor of this phone. The components allow you to play games freely.

Realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition review – summary

Realme GT Neo 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition review - summary

How is realme GT NEO 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition in my opinion? As a regular smartphone, it is really good in virtually every aspect. It has a great display, a decent camera, and a decent and well-managed battery that you can recharge in no time. As for the part of Dragon Ball Z in the name, I think realme could have done more to distinguish this phone in terms of modifications in the system. The appearance of the phone matches the colors of the anime, but if you want to use the included bumper, you have to give it up completely.
